All the member institutions of CommanApp should evaluate the applicants by a holistic selection process. This means that while reviewing the admission candidate, the admissions committee should take subjective criteria into consideration. So, a member of Common Application must not only look at the GPA or the SAT scores of a applicant but should consider the personal essay and letters of recommendation in their admission criteria.
In the Commonapp a candidate writes about his personal information, educational information, standardized test scores, family information, extracurricular activities, work experience, a personal essay, and many more. It will also cover the teacher and school recommendations. Also, CommonApp consists of supplementary section for the colleges which require additional documents for the admission process. Supplementary materials are usually a short writing section with some additional information about the applicant. Although in the Commonapp you should specify whether or not you will apply for financial aid, you will need to complete seperate requirements for financial aid. Generally you will need to file the FAFSA (or submit the ISFAA if you are an international student) with supporting financial aid documents. CommanApp can be sent either electronically or via paper. All member colleges accept it in either way.
